My Story : From Police and Court Battles to Career Triumphs

I got married in 2012. I was Software Engineer then in Healthcare Data Analytics. After discussion with my wife, decided to prepare for UPSC exams to achieve my childhood dream to become IPS Officer. I cleared prelims in 2013 in first attempt. Later with help of Mentor Sir, started preparation for next round of exam which is toughest exam in the world. Had written like almost 1000 essays on various social subjects. With God grace, supported by parents, wife and Mentor sir, cleared mains as well.

Our happiness was boundless for getting to select to UPSC Interview. I was one step closer to my dream life and this happened.

The Shock of 498A False Allegation

A week before my interviews, a police complaint of criminal nature was registered against my name. The complainant, by misusing women's rights in order to take vengeance on her husband, also implicated me and my wife in that baseless case. This is a tactic often employed by people who want to exploit the law, bringing in as many family members as possible in order to increase the pressure. Even though I was not a main party in the case, the mere accusation of my name was enough to destroy my dreams and disrupt my interview preparation. I was called in to the police station and my passport confiscated at the women's police station as a process. Although the inspector and judge had a sense of the false accusation, they advised us to stay patient and trust that justice would be done.

However, I could not comprehend and was so anxious that I could not perform well in Interview and more over could not prepare well for next attempts. I was so much stressed and anxiety running behind police and advocates that I lost the peak years of preparation time. Me, my family and my mentor dreams were shattered!!!

I was indeed broke. But this magic happened!

Comeback

One day, my mother came up to me and asked one thing, "Did I ever in my life forced you to achieve anything?"

I said, "No"

Then she said, "Why are you now forcing yourself to become Government Officer while there are 100s of way to grow and serve society?"

I quickly realized that this presented a new perspective to tackle this case. I was an engineer in the data space and was well-versed in the Constitution and laws due to my UPSC preparations. Thus, I possessed the necessary skills for this endeavor. We pooled together our data analysis capabilities and knowledge to gain insight into our case as well as similar cases. It became obvious that this wouldn't substantially impact our dreams and that we needed to create relevant evidence with our attorney to present to the jury and police for a timely resolution.

The police dismissed the wrongful case eventually and thus justice was served. But it came by after many stressful years.

On one particular day as I was reflecting on my past experiences, I encountered another extraordinary event. I noticed a book on Artificial Intelligence, and in that moment, a feeling of enlightenment became apparent to me.

Artificial Intelligence in Fightback

Artificial Intelligence in its naive form had a hand in protecting us from baseless lawsuits. Inspired, I began to consider that if AI was properly studied within the context of law, it could free numerous individuals from the shackles of baseless legal disputes to pursue their life of dreams.

Immediately I applied for Indian School of Business for Advanced Program on Artificial Intelligence. My experience of winning over false litigation, coming back from broken dreams together with knowledge on Artificial Intelligence have already shown remarkable initial results.
