EVERY 6th MINUTE, A MARRIED MAN COMMITS SUICIDE IN INDIA

Oct 26, 2024

According to the National Crime Records Bureau's 2024 report, 1,70,924 individuals committed suicide in India in 2022. While the Government hasn't published specific data on men driven to suicide by false accusations, these startling facts tell a worrying story:
83,713 Married Men took their lives in 2022, compared to 30,771 Married Women.

Men aged 30 to 45 are most affected, with 42,029 suicides, nearly 50% of the total. For women in this age group, the number is 12,317.

In the 45 to 60 age group, 26,108 Men committed suicide compared to 5,812 Women. The major reasons cited: Family Problems and Marriage-related issues.
These numbers raise a crucial question: Why is the toll of marriage and family three times higher on married men than women? Is there a connection to false 498A cases?

Let’s be clear: Every life lost is a tragedy. We share equal pain and empathy for women who have ended their lives due to family pressures and atrocities. This post aims to understand the reasons behind the alarming suicide rates among men.
